Certain Android apps not working when connected to Wifi via Archer C5 router

Hi,
My wife has a Samsung A5 phone that is running Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow). For some reason when she is on our home network her Facebook, Instagram and Google Play apps don't work. They work on other networks, and I have a neighbour with the same router and it does NOT work on theirs either so I'm pretty sure its this specific router that is the issue. I have tried upgrading the firmware but that hasn't helped.
Has anyone heard of this issue and has a solution? It is killing her data plan so I would really like to figure something out
