I have recently purchased an Archer C3200 and have found my 2.4 ghz network to be somewhat unstable so I decided to see if there was a newer firmware version.

The current firmware that shipped with the router is:

Archer C3200 v1 00000000
0.9.1 0.1 v004b.0 Build 150826 Rel.38411n

I went to the Canadian support site and downloaded the latest version Archer C3200(CA)_V1_160116

I tried to upgrade the firmware but got an error code 4503

I see there is another firmware listed above the one I downloaded but I am not sure if it can be used
Archer C3200(US)_V1_160704

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please try to upgrade the 160704 version at first, and then upgrade to the latest CA version.

In addition, as for the 2.4GHz wifi problem, please try to eliminate the possible interferences such as bluetooth etc.
In addition, USB 3.0 will also make an impact on the 2.4GHz wifi. Please find more details with the FAQ below:

I successfully upgraded to V 160704 but when I then tried to upgrade to the Canadian firmware I got the same error code 4503 and now I cannot connect to the router using the tether app from any device.

How can I go back to the Canadian firmware?

I just checked that the firmware version 150826 is also a US firmware. I think your model is also a US one. You can check that on the label at the bottom of the router.
Thus you need to install the US firmwares on the router.

OK the label on the bottom of the router states the model is Archer C3200 (US) Ver 1.0. I assume that I have the correct firmware.

Any idea why the tether app will not connect on any device, IOS & Android ?

Great so I upgraded the firmware on the advice of a forum administrator and now my ability to use the tether app is broken !

Clear the saved data of the tether app and try connecting to the Archer again. In Android, go to Setup -> Apps, select tether app, select storage, clear data & cache. For iOS I don't know how to clear stale data.

I tried this on my Note 5 and it didn't make a difference. I am still within the 30 days warranty period with Best Buy so I think I will return this, this firmware clearly isn't for the Canadian version. The tether app worked perfectly before across my android & IOS devices
