Archer T2UH AC600 Slow Download Speed, Upload Speed is fine

Hi All
I am struggling to get full download speeds on my TP-LINK Archer T2UH AC600 USB adapter. Upload speeds are fine, however download speeds are currently only 20% of what it should be.
Currently experiencing only 20mbps on my 100mbps fibre line, while my laptop, iPad and Mobile phones on the same desk experience between 80-100mbps.
For some reason, Windows shows the link speed as 65mbps and never any higher.
There are no other downloads running on the PC so this is not a bandwidth issue, it seems like a driver/ config issue.
I have contacted TP-Link support twice and they would not help me, saying I need to try different drivers were all they could recommend.
I am very frustrated with this, please can someone provide some solutions.
Background information:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit professional
Driver: the following drivers have all been tested with no difference experienced: DVD provided driver, latest UK, USA and European, BETA and Windows drivers.
Connection: 100 MBPS Fibre line
ISP: Hyperoptic
Distance from router: 5 meters, no walls or obstructions.
Connection: 2.4 ghz channel 1
Signal Strength: 100% full signal.
Encryption: WPA2-PSK - AES
Thank you in advance.
