TP-Link 1043ND EU v3, setting MTU to 9000 for jumbo frames using OpenWRT firmware

Hello Greetings.
I am using TP-Link 1043ND wireless router, to meet a specific requirement in my test bed. I intend to use this device with OpenWrt + OpenVSwitch firmware such that the device can act as a openflow enabled device over the Ethernet LAN ports. Though the Ethernet switch has jumbo frame support, via ifconfig command or the /etc/config/network file, MTU could be configured to a max of 4070 bytes. The current firmware details - TP-Link 1043ND (V3) with OpenWRT (Chaos Calmer, r49389), OpenVSwitch ( (Open vSwitch) 2.3.90 , with DB Schema 7.11.2)
Support of 9000 bytes MTU is a key need in my setup, Help to enable this is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Manikantan.
