Archer C9 Delay connecting to WiFi after laptop sleep

I'm using an Archer C9 in conjunction with a VirginMedia SuperHub 2 which is in modem mode. It works well apart from one issue.
After resuming from sleep Windows laptops take around 3-5 mins to reconnect to WiFi. Happens with a Win 10 and a Win 8.1 machine
