Where is TP Link support? Why they updated V2 and V1 is left out? Not everyone has the means to afford another router.

If TP Link hear this, the problems are listed in the original thread up there.

there is beta firmware, you can send email to support@tp-link.com and ask for that.

AC3150 v1 5ghz never works
2017-07-22 03:35:06
I bought this router 3 months ago and the 5ghz has never worked
after reading this thread, I contacted support and got the beta firmware, but it has not fixed the problems with the 5ghz channel.

I have flashed the device with beta firmware and performed a 30/30/30 reset, resetting all the settings to factory, however I cannot get the 5ghz channel to work at all. It will not allow clients to connect.
Here are my troubleshooting steps that I have done so far..

1. flash new beta firmware to the AC3150 V1.
2. perform a 30/30/30 reset to make all settings go back to factory
3. log in and set password and user
4. keep default network name and password for wireless
5. complete setup
6. connect to 2.4 Ghz network with iPhone 6 (Successful)
7. connect to 5 Ghz network with iPhone 6 (FAILURE), it fails with “Incorrect Password”, no matter what I put in or change the password to.
8. remove password and turn off security from 5ghz network, makes it completely open,
9. try to connect to 5 ghz network with iPhone 6, (FAILURE) error message is “unable to join the network “TP-LINK_0434_5G”"
10 try to connect to 5ghz network with laptop, (FAILURE) error message is “The wifi network “TP-LINK_0434_5G” could not be joined”
11. change channels on 5ghz network from 157 to 161, try to connect (FAILURE)
12. change channels on 5ghz network from 161 to 40 , try to connect (FAILURE)
13. Change bandwidth from auto and try each of the channels 20, 40, 80 (FAILURE)
14 change mode from 802.11 a/ac/n mixed to only ac, only n and try to connect respectively (FAILURE)
15 re-flash with original firmware from 070716 and repeat all steps (FAILURE)
16 re-flash with new beta firmware, (FAILURE)

at this point I’m not sure what we can do.. it seems the 5GHZ on this router is broken and always has been.
