Connection with a tad-w8980

HiI live in an area which has to use KCOM for the internet we are on fibre which does give great speed up to 250 but my problem has been distance using the router supplied which is the xzexcel unitA friend has loaned me his spare TP W8980 which I have tried to connect but have failed in that when it is plugged in it shows up on my pad it is connected with a tick by the side of it and the 2.4 & 5 lights are flashing but as I say even though my pad says it's connected I have no internet Has anyone any ideas what I have done wrong I have logged onto the system and followed Kc info but nothingBob
