Model : Archer C1200

Hardware Version :

Firmware Version : 1.0.0 Build 20161115 rel.42795 (EU)

ISP : Malaysia TM UniFi

The Archer C1200 I am currently using at home came packaged from the ISP. I have no complaint except the self-reboot at random times. I cannot tell for sure how frequent the occurrence of the reboots. Perhaps once a day or once every few days. Anybody has similar experience? Really hope a firmware update could fix this.

How do you know it reboots by itself? Did you try a hard reset?

For a number of times it reboots, I was online at the PC. During sudden loss of connectivity, I turned back and looked at the flashing LEDs indicating the router was in the process of booting up. Everything would be back up in about 4~5 minutes. I even power-cycled the unit in the hope to flush out any evil spirit there is. I reckon it is something inherent in the firmware or worse still hardware design.

do you power it using the adapter came with? Try another power socket, if possible.
how many clients you have? try to reduce the clients?

Can confirm this bug. C1200 V1.0 with 1 Amp power supply. The device do sudden reboots every few days and bootup again. No evidence in the logfile what has happened.

Thanks for the information. But firmware 1.1.1 is not available in my region.

The 1.1.1 must be downloaded by hand from the tp-link site, because the update function in the router is also bugged. With 1.0.0 it did not see 1.1.0 and the 1.1.0 did not see the 1.1.1 that is already available.

But i wont fix the reboots, they seems to come from the a bit to small power supply. Older TP-Link had a 2.5 Amps power plug, my old WRD11043ND is running well with it.

Maybe a huge load or too many devices cause the router freeze then reboot. Reduce the number of clients to test.
You may try the latest firmware:

I'm also using the following unit from TM for unifi and am experiencing random reboot every 2-3 days on the wifi router (can see the LEDs on the router when it is rebooting by itself). BTU seems to be OK tho.

Hardware: Archer C1200 v1.0
Firmware: 1.0.0 Build 20161115 rel.42795 (EU)

I've already launched a report with TM. They reset my port and opened a report for me for follow up. Lets see how it goes...

Silly TM SOP. Believing resetting PON port can fix router reboot is like hoping changing tyre can fix the faulty stereo in the car.

TM came and replaced the wifi router (with a different brand/model) since it is still under warranty. Hopefully I don't see this this issue again. *fingers crossed*
