Model : Archer C3150
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 0.9.1 0.1 v005f.0 Build 160707 Rel.64418n
ISP :
I have set up my c3150 router as a second router to provide better coverage.
After installing a wifi monitor on my PC the system shows that the WiFi signal is lower than the specs on the box.
The Router has speeds of 2.4Ghz - 1000mbps and 5Ghz at 2167.
The system monitor shows connection signal at 2.4Ghz - 600 mbps and 5Ghz at 1733.4 Mbps (tp-link c3150)
The Second router is showing the maximum available from it at 450mbs and 1300 mbs connection. (DSL-2890AL)
What are the default settings required to get the speed from the router as advertised. This is very disappointing after installing and have less speed than expected.
Thanks in advance.

What's the wifi monitor?
Is it the speed showing on the monitor the link speed between the PC and the router?
If it is, the speed is also limited by the network adapter on the PC.

This is from Acrylic Wi-Fi Home app for windows. I also have a Dlink dsl-2890al connected as the main modem/router. This has the maximum obtainable speed being recognized by the monitor app. It is connected via a Cat5 cable directly to the router. The first four items are from me and the TP-link are the only ones showing slow speeds available. thanks again.

Actually the speed for TP-Link is the maximum speed in the list. The settings on the router should be right.
You can check the model number of the network adapter on your computer.
Have a google to see what the maximum speed the network adapter can reach.

The C3150 is listed at 1000 for 2.4 and 2167 for 5 ranges. The maximum there on the chart is no where close to the product listing.

Hi Chippy,
Acrylic Wi-Fi Home app may be based on the association speed.
It is not only decided by the router part, but the last association speed of the computer and the router.
If the wifi adapter in the PC just support 3 mimo for 2.4G, then it can only reach at 600mpbs.
If you can use the monitor to detect more than 600mbps for other wifi ssid, it must be the TP-Link router issue.

Just to close this off and offer some info to new comers (like me)
I was advised that the wifi device i am using to see the network available is limited by the technology.
latest wifi router older wifi devices connected, explained below.
C3150 supports 1024QAM and it's 4 MIMO. So when connected to the 2.4G, in order to reach 1000 Mbps speed,
the wireless adapter should support 1024QAM & 4MIMO as well.
While the wireless adapter of your computer ' 2.4G just support 64QAM & 4MIMO, so the speed is 150M×4=600Mbps.
(150Maps is the speed when the 2.4G is under 64QAM).
When you connect to the router' 5G, the speed you got is 1732.Because the your computer adapter's 5G just support 256QAM&4MIMO, so the speed is 433×4=1732Mbps. So in order to get the Maximum speed, you need test it with a wireless adapter which support 1024QAM both 2.4G and 5G.
Hope this is clear to most.
