Hi There,

I just purchased an Archer C1200 v1.0. I wanted to upgrade the firmware before setting up other things on the router.
According to the website the latest firmware version is "Archer C1200(US)_V1_170413". Currently my router is reporting "1.0.0 Build 20160601 rel.44450 (CA)" which seems to be outdated.
I tried the "Online Upgrade" but it says by firmware is up to date.
I also tried manually downloading and installing the "C1200v1_us-up-1.1.0 Build 20170413 rel.56876.bin" but after a few seconds it simply says "Unable to Upgrade"

Why am I unable to upgrade to the latest version?

Thanks,
Ian

Hi,
Your router is CA version, cannot upgrade to US version, on the CA website, you're on the latest firmware.

Oh! Thanks! I didn't realize there was any difference, the manuals seem to focus on the hardware version but don't mention anything about what country you are in.

1. Why is there a difference between US and CA? I assume different radio broadcasting regulations?
2. If the hardware is identical, does anyone know how to upgrade or switch it to the US version? it seems like the US firmware is updated more frequently than the CA.

Thanks

They apply different regulatioins on wireless radio broadcasting. If you are not in the US, better not upgrade to US version, and even if you want to, you cannot do it. Only US version, or maybe UN for some very old firmware, can upgrade to US version.

Thanks for answering! Makes sense, I'll just live with the CA version then. So far the router is working great and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks!
