In this article, we go through the 4 main types of internet connections currently being used in the UK and explain the main differences between them. This information will assist you in finding a compatible Deco device and setting it up with greater efficiency.

Operation Mode	Wireless router mode or Access Point Mode
Recommended Internet Connection Type	PPPOE( VLAN ID might be required) if ISP hub is set to Modem mode. Dynamic IP if ISP hub is in default router mode. It is also suggested to set Deco into Access Point Mode.

FTTP/FTTH

Recommended Model	All Decos that support Ethernet cable connection

When you subscribe to a broadband deal, A WiFi hub is often included in the package and works as a model router or wireless router. The specific internet type would also depend on whether you want to keep the ISP-provided Wi-Fi hub.

Virgin Media	Virgin Media broadband(HFC)	PPPOE if VM smart hub is set to Modem mode. Dynamic IP if VM smart hub is in default router mode. It is also suggested to set Deco into Access Point Mode.
Sky Broadband	Sky Phone Service(with master phone socket)	PPPOE( VLAN ID might be required)
	Sky Fibre Service	Third party router with Sky Fibre IPOE/Dynamic IP More Advice: If you have a Openreach Box under FTTC, the imbedded connection profile "Sky(MER)_VDSL" is suggested on the Deco X20/50/73-DSL during setting up. If it is a Fibre ONT box, please select Dynamic IP on Deco first. If not working, please keep Sky Hub and connect Deco behind Sky Hub. It is also suggested to set Deco into Access Point Mode.
