Troubleshooting Guide for VoIP Feature of DSL Modem Router

Released On: 5 hours agoLast update time: 4 hours ago

VoIP is a common feature of DSL modems and routers, and we may occasionally encounter anomalies when using it. If you experience challenges with registration or call connectivity, the following guide will provide you with efficient support.

Section A: VoIP Registration Process

1. Prepares for Registration

  • Ensure your DSL modem router has stable internet connectivity before the VoIP setup.
  • Confirm you have the correct account credentials (phone number/password) from your VoIP service provider.

Note: It is recommended that you manually enter your phone number/password; copying and pasting may result in errors.

2. Step-by-Step Registration

  • Access your modem router settings interface. How to log into the web-based interface of the AC VDSL/ADSL Modem Router.
  • Navigate to Advanced>>Telephony/VoIP>>Telephone Numbers, and click Add.
  • Input the registration details provided by your VoIP service provider.
  • Validate the registration status: A checkmark indicates successful registration, while a crossmark indicates the opposite.

For Detailed Instructions, please refer to How to setup my VoIP function.

3. Troubleshooting unsuccessful Registration

  • Double-check and verify information such as phone number, password, and Registrar Address.
  • Change "Bound interface" settings in the Advanced Settings section to "Any WAN" or the internet connection interface you are using.
  • Disable the "Via IPv6" option if you have enabled it and try registering again.

Navigate to 'What to do if the registration fails' at  How to set up my VoIP function for more troubleshooting steps.

If you encounter any other anomaly after registering for VoIP, please provide the following information to help us follow up on your case as quickly as possible:

  • Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and VoIP service provider?
  • Provide a screenshot of how you filled in the VoIP registration page.
  • Provide a screenshot of the VoIP registration information provided by the VoIP service provider, if possible. Please blur sensitive information such as phone numbers and passwords.
  • Outline the troubleshooting steps you have already taken and the results.
