General Product

Buy a router, set up Wi-Fi and never remember it unless Wi-Fi goes wrong. That’s how most people do. Perhaps you think the router is limited to providing Wi-Fi. However, it can do a lot of things to make your life easier.

Part I: Mange your Wi-Fi

1. Customize a guest Wi-Fi network

If you have guests regularly dropping in and using your Wi-Fi, why not give them their own network? Turning on your router’s Guest Network feature is a good idea. It allows you to create an exclusive guest Wi-Fi network for them without disclosing your main network. In addition, you can customize guest network options to ensure network security and privacy.

Creating a guest network is easier than it sounds. Refer to https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1082/ for detailed instructions.

2. Set access restrictions

In some cases, it’s necessary to block the unknown or certain devices connected to your network. The Access Control feature of the router is a way to flexibly allow or block certain devices to access your internet for a specific period, based on a list of blocked devices (Blacklist) or a list of allowed devices (Whitelist).

The configuration is much easier than you’d expect. To learn how to configure Access Control: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1535/

3. Create a whole-home Wi-Fi network

You'll have to switch your devices between the router and the extender’s networks as you move around the house, often hounded by “buffering”. The new trend of whole-home mesh Wi-Fi can eliminate the lag or dropped connection. The TP-Link’s OneMesh™ solution, works as a system to extend Wi-Fi to all areas of your home, providing you with better performance, broader coverage, and a seamless network connection. No more searching around for a stronger signal for faster connection. Not to mention, it's easier to use and manage without the frustrations you typically face with traditional extended networks.
