Archer C9 V1 new firmware - WHEN?

The latest firmware for the Archer C9 V1 is either 12 months old or 18 months old - depending on which country you are in (for USA it's 12 months old).
This isn't acceptable... there should be a newer version of the firmware available for us loyal TP-Link customers. When will the company provide this?
