Hi there, I've got the TL-WPA4230P KIT. I want to make an extension but its hard to find the same model. Which extender should I use that is compatible with this model and comes with passthrough as well. Thank you.

As far as I know, all the TP-LINK powerline extenders are using HomePlug AV or HomePlug AV 2, the AV2 is backward compatible with AV, so any TP-LINK powerline extender would be fine such as TL-WPA8630P KIT

Can I use the TP-WPA8630P kit as only the extender or do I need to change the adapter

You can use just the 8630P from the kit, but you'd be well advised to replace the 4000 series adapter with the 8010P from the kit. This will improve overall throughput, often even towards the older adapters.
