Buffer issues with TL-WA801ND in access point mode for local streaming

Model : TL-WA801ND
Hardware Version : 2.1
Firmware Version : TL-WA801ND_V2_150422
When I stream online services like Youtube, Netflix, etc., they play with no buffer issues but when I try to stream a small video file from PLEX it begins to buffer a lot, it's impossible to watch any kind of video, this happens when the TL-WA801ND is setup as access point but setup as a repeater the problem is not present. Also if I stream the videos using the wifi connection of the ADSL2+ modem instead, the videos play fine.
This is my setup:
The TL-WA801ND is connected to my ADSL2+ modem through ethernet cable
My computer is setup as a server with PLEX and is connected to the ADSL2+ modem through ethernet cable
I use PLEX for Android TV in the Xiaomi Mi Box device connected to the TL-WA801ND wirelessly.
Is there something wrong with the TL-WA801ND or should I change any setting to make it work?
I appreciate any help.

When in access point mode, modem to the 801ND is cable connection; when in repeater mode, 801ND wireless to the modem
have you try to change a different cable? Other devices works fine when in access point mode?

I used two different cables but didn't fix the issue, I tested plex app for android on my LG G3 and it's the same, it buffers, I also tested kodi and it's the same issue.

suggest to check the firmware and hardware of the access point, update it to the latest first

The device version I have is 2.1 and it has the latest firmware that was released back in 2015, there are no new firmware updates so far.

It looks like this access point has connectivity issues with the Mi Box or with Android TV devices in general, I guess that's the reason of the buffer with PLEX and also with the internet connection where I have to reboot the Mi Box to fix it, however, after a recent PLEX update, the buffer issue at least seems to be gone, the videos play fine now.
When the Mi box is connected to my ADSL2+ modem through WiFi those issues don't happen.

The plex issue may be fixed but the other issue still remains, I still have internet connectivity issues.
