Is there a way of setting up the router to use a VPN, i'd like my devices behind a vpn at router level if possible.

you can set PPTP VPN, OpenVPN and IPSec VPN on the router. http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-1751.html

That's setting up a VPN server, for connection from remote locations. He want to use the router as a VPN "Client" via a remote VPN service. Unfortunately, it's not possible with this router (yet).
