Hi all, hope you can provide some advice:

I've just recently got a TP-Link VR600 and set it up. I am quite tech savvy, although relatively inexperienced in networking gear.

I would really love to use the QoS feature in this router to limit how much bandwidth Windows updates use - my issue is a speed issue, as my ISP provides an unlimited data plan, but on only a 3 Mbps ADSL connection (4 people, ~8 devices).

Additionally, I would like to limit the bandwidth used by the installation of some other programs I will be using - I plan to install Autodesk Inventor on my machine, and want to limit the speed at which the Autodesk installer is allowed download at.

How should I set up the QoS on my router?

Also, how does the QoS algorithm work? For instance, if I list of a device as high priority, and high priority is given 60%, does that mean the device will only ever use up to 60% of my download/upload allowance? What if I have 2 devices in high priority? QoS should NOT affect my Plex usage over LAN yes?

Sorry if these sound silly. Trying to wrap my head around this. Reading stuff on Google is helping, but also quite overwhelming as the conventions change between routers.

Thank you in advance!
