Hi,

I bought and installed this adapter 7 months ago and had no problems until last night. While watching Facebook videos, my connection dropped which I thought was just one of my normal connection drops resolved by refreshing the page. This time however I couldn't get the connection to return. I have tried using the 2 different drivers which has made no difference, tried windows troubleshooting which hasn't found a problem and tried moving the adapter to a different PCI port also to no avail.
What's happening is that when I try to connect to my router (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Windows is sometimes saying it can't connect to the network while other times it is connecting but with an extremely slow connection speed. The adapters status page in the network control panel shows 6.5mbps with a strong signal. A general speedtest using the BT Wholesale system or speedtest.net is not completing due to the poor connection.
I have tried 2 drivers, changing the PCI port, fully uninstalling the device and it's driver and software from the device panel and the tp-link installer.
Drivers used were:
1. Archer T9E_V1_151026 (Version 6.30.223.228 Dated 06/02/2014)
2. Archer T9E(EU)_V1_170831_Wins (Version 7.35.317.1 Dated 06/10/2015)
I am using Windows 10 Pro X64 Version 1709 OS Build 16299.248. The last update it shows being installed is the 2018-02 Cumulative Update KB4074588 installed on 13/02/2018 which is over a week before I started getting the issue.
I am currently using the Realtek USB adapter I had beforehand on the same computer with no issues. I can't test the adapter in another computer as I only have this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same Archr T9E adapter, also Windows 10 PRO x64, and same problem...
I had purchased this T9E as well as a new Router (Archer AC5400) mid February , and couldn´t be happier with the performance and no more lags, delay , packet loss or jitter.

Suddently, same day as your post (Feb 25th) , my wireless connection was terrible. Jitter, packet loss, status showign 6.5Mbps , and speed test failing or showing no more than 10 Mbps while my Internet connection is 60 Mbps and tested sucessfully on any other wireless device.

I started checking for recent updates, none found on Feb 24/25 when troube began.
Tried different drivers, the 2 you mentioned from TP Link , plus others from Broad Comm for chipset BCM4360 .
Nothing worked. Sometimes I cannot even connect to my networks, or when I connect, it´s impossible to use even web because of slowness.

As it worked before , I deviced to format and reinstall Windows 10 PRO as a Fresh install.
Just finished this task, installed the same TPLink 17083 Drivers I had used sucessfully before, and issue is still present. There might be some recent updates to Windows 10 PRO that´s causing this problem as you have exactly the same trouble as I do, and at the exact same date.

Unfortunately... I don´t have the resolution yet. Please let me know if you manage to resolve the issue.

Hi,
I would like to share my experience which has been similar to yours.
I first had installed an adapter from Asus. At the end of December 2017, I began experiencing connexions losses and low speed connexions. I tried everything I could, including a fresh install of Windows. Nothing helped.
I changed my adapter and went for a Gigabyte one. With this one, the computer wouldn't get off : it restarted automatically and I had to use the power supply switch to get it off.
Finally I went for a TP-Link Archer T6E and everything is fine.
I have no idea what happened. I can only suspect a problem with Windows 10.
Good luck.

After 2 weeks and dozens of attempts to resolve the issue, I gave up and called TPlink support for RMA.
Support mentioned that T9E adapter is supported in Windows 10 releases up to August, 31st 2017, which is the date of the latest driver was released. And if there was any Windows update after August that's causing the issue, it's not supported.
My adapter will be sent to TPlink and will be tested in Labs in a Windows 10 machine with release prior to that date and if no trouble is found, it's not eligible for warranty and adapter would be returned to me on my expenses.

I tried a fresh install of Windows 10 PRO 64bits this week, but problem is that I had to download a new image with the media creation tool, and that would include any updates to Windows up to this date. Also there is updates during the install process.
So if the cause is current Windows 10 release not being compatible, I don't have access to an old image file for windows 10 to install an older release.

Anyway, when issue began on Feb 25th, I checked the update history and there wasn't any update listed in the previous week and card was working wonderfully until the day before.

Currently my workaround is to use my old/previous Wireless-N TPlink adapter which works pretty well, but does not support 802.11ac or 5Ghz bands.
I wish I had saved the old Windows image to do a fresh install with that image and disconnect ethernet cable until end of install to make sure no auto-updates would happen during install of Windows 10 PRO 64.

before I go to the post office to send the adapter to TPlink, I found an information in Amazon user reviews for T9E adapter that I will give it a try. I'm registering to the Windows Insider Program to gain access to other build versions of Windows. Appears that one reviewer in Amazon got this suggestion by TPlink to resolve his issue.

That kind of answer is unbeleivable !! So they wont update the driver ? What about the information they give on the following page ? https://www.tp-link.com/us/win10compatibility.html In my opinion, if at the time the adapter was sold, it was said compatible with Windows 10, the driver should be updated or the adapter replaced for free. It isn't very serious. I'm really disappointed.

Yes, it's unbeleivable. If it's Windows 10 compatible, it should be compatible with all Windows 10 releases. It's their job to get a working driver if any Windows10 release caused their product to become incompatible.

Anyway.. see this reply/comment to an Amazon review , which was posted 7 days ago:

Hi TN,

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has affected the compatibility and performance of some Wi-Fi Adapters, including our Archer T9E. Our development team is diligently working to address driver compatibility; however in the meantime they've discovered that updating Windows 10 to the latest Insider Preview Build has resolved the driver compatibility issue. To install this build, you'll need to join the free Windows Insider Program at https://insider.windows.com

Our Support Team is always happy to listen, and answer any questions you might have about our products. Please feel free to e-mail Support.Amazon@TP-Link.com and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

Best Regards,
TP-Link Customer Support"

I'll be more than happy to run a beta/insider review release of Windows if that fixes my T9E adapter until TPLink provides new Drivers for non-insider releases....
Cannot wait to get home and test it...

This comment you quote is very interesting.

Indeed, when I had all the problems with my adapters, I browsed the web and found that a lot of people had Wifi problems with Windows 10.

Sure it's the job of TP-Link and other companies to work on their drivers. But on the other hand, I can easily imagine that there could have been some bugs in Windows 10 or in the communication of Microsoft with the other companies. Who knows what happened.

Hopefully the latest build will solve your problem. Let us know.

I did a fresh install of the Windows 10 insider preview edition build 17025, but it didn´t resolve the issue. Actually, it made it worse because with that version I cannot even connect to any of the SSIDs.
This 17025 release is the one tplink mention in a reply to any low start review for the adapter in amazon.com
Didn´t work for me....

Really sorry to hear this Letzow... I know what it is.

I'm not a specialist at all, but still some ideas :

You write purposely "didn't work for me". I was actually wondering why I was having problems with an adapter while it seemed to work for other people. The answer should be that my system was not exactly the same. When I installed the new TP-Link adapter that began working for me, I also uninstalled two software. Maybe, there was a compatibility problem between these software and the other adapters I was using. Maybe you could search in that direction and try to uninstall the one or the other software that you have got on your system.

Another idea would be to try the latest Window release.

Good luck.
