I have had this problem for a while now. It will be fine for a few weeks then drop 3 or 4 times in a row and I need to cold boot. I moved my computer to another house/router and still have the issue so it is not the cable wireless modem. I know this is vague and a hard to pinpoint problem but maybe the solution is obvious? Thanks.

What's the OS of your computer?
Have you tried installing the latest driver?
You can also try to change another USB port on the computer.

It's Win 7 with latest updates. It's a card, not USB and I've tried the latest driver. It happens about once every 2 days. If I disable and enable the driver it works for a few minutes then stops again. If I do a cold boot it is fine for a few days again.
