Finding network wa855re

I cannot find the TP-Link_Extender. WHen I click on the wifi icon in the task bar I can only see my home network. When the extender is powered up just as the power led becomes solid the signal led flashes red once, the blue once then goes out. The modem/router is Netgear WG 111v3. I have reset and followed instruction carefully. Thank you. Bill
