Region : Italy

Model : TL-WR702N

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version :

ISP :

Android Tablets do not connect to Wifi Ad Hoc network (IBSS).
Can I do this:
My Nokia phone create an HotSpot WiFi network type AD HOC (IBSS).
With TL-WR702N in Bridge or Repeter i connect it to Nokia Phone in "Ad Hoc" mode and creare an AP Wifi infrastructure network that my Android Tablet can connect to it.

IS IT POSSIBLE?
(if this is possible, there is a business for TL-WR702N.... )

Thenks.

I do not think you can do this unless your Nokia phone can work as a gateway to transfer the data. No matter in bridge or Repeater mode, the 702 will not work as a gateway unless it works as router mode.

My phone Nokya create a HotSpot (tethering) network type Ad hoc (IBSS) by the app "joikuspot".
The core of the question is that I do not know if TL-WR702N can do a connection to a AD HOC (IBSS) peer in bridge or repeater mode.

a) (Internet) <->
b) Telecom <->
c) Nokya Symbian (3G) <->
d) Symbian Application "joikuspot" (HotSpot via WiFi type Ad Hoc) <->
e) TL-WR702N (bridge wifi or repeter wifi type AP Infrastructure) <->
f) MY TABLET Android via WiFi (that not do connect to HotSpot type "Ad hoc", only type infrastructure)

form (a) to (d) all work fine.
(d) and (f) can't connect, Android wifi do not support AD HOC.
Can (d) and (f) connect? (bridge or repeater mode).
Can (e) and (f) connect? (do TL-WR702N create an wifi access type infrastructure?).

Thanks

I believe what is being asked here is as follows;

Ettore wants to use his Symbian device via 3G to conenct to the internet
From within his device he wants to enable Wifi to share this 3G using the application Jokiuspot
They are asking, can the 702N repeat the wifi signal from the Symbian device - I am going to say, yes, so long as it can see it by MAC, however this is the bit i believe the OP is stuck at;

The mobile can only share wifi in Ad-Hoc mode
The tablet can only connect to Wireless Access Point mode

Can the router convert the mobile Ad-Hoc to and AP

I belive the mobile is being the gateway in this instance.

Can anyone clarify this for the OP

Aplogies if this was already answered by Cora

Has anyone got this working? In other words, has anyone managed to use the WR702 to do one of the following two bridging functions

1) adhoc wifi client to infrastructure wifi access point

2) adhoc wifi client to ethernet

I am fairly sure 1) is not possible unless you hack it (openWRT etc).
But 2) should be possible, unless TP-Link explicitly blocked the WR702 from connecting to adhoc wifi devices (like Joikuspot is).

Since google crippled android to ignore adhoc wifi, thus forcing android tablet users to buy android phones (which are almost the only phones capable of generating an infrastructure wifi AP), there is a lot of business in this!

OK, I have just tested it.

The WR702 finds the Joikuspot wifi, offers the Connect button, but doesn't connect to it (as evidenced by the JS connection status list).

I tried it in the Client mode. The other modes are no good for this.

A piece of rubbish! And with zero support. I chucked it in the dustbin.
