Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.11 Build 20190726 rel.57101(4555)

Description:

I try to set the router to update automatically the date and time, unfortunately seems this process cannot be completed succesfully.

Question:

How can I identify if is a router issues or is an issue from the ISP?

More info:

The connection to my ISP is done using Dinamic IP settings.

NTP servers tested are:

- time.nist.gov

- time-nw.nist.gov

- time.windows.com

- ubuntu.ntp.com

I tried two different firmwares and I noticed that:

- on the older one (the firmware which was preinstalled on the router: 1.0.4 Build 20180425 rel.72768(4555)) the process fails with the message: Get Time From NTP Server Time Out

- on the latest firmware (fw 1.0.11 Build 20190726 rel.57101(4555)) the process seems to be stuck. No error is present on the logs.

Bellow are some values from a Ubuntu Mate envirnment to test the ntp server connections:

ubuntu-mate@ubuntu-mate:~/Desktop$ ntpq -pn

Thnak you Cawsie for your answer, unfortunately same things happen with time.google.com too.

The UI seems to remain in loop request:

Solution

I contacted TP-Link support, they suggested to use following NTP servers:

  • 0.ro.pool.ntp.org
  • 93.190.144.3

Using suggested servers the router was able to set the date and time properly.

Conclusion: was an issue related with the NTP servers access.
