TL-WA901ND WAP not working with TD-W8961TD ADSL Modem
Region : Indonesia
Model : TL-WA901ND
Hardware Version : V2
Firmware Version : 3.12.16 Build 120224 Rel.61005n
ISP :
Dear all,
I'm trying to setup my TP Link WAP but it seems to not want to work with my TP Link ADSL Modem/Router.
My ADSL Modem/Router is: TD-W8961TD v1, firmware: 1.0.0 Build 100722 Rel.052101.0.0 Build 100722 Rel.05210 (Tried to upgrade to TD-W8961ND_V1.0_111125, but firmware remained the same)
My laptop is now connected to the modem/router directly using LAN cable, and my WAP is also connected to the modem/router directly using LAN cable.
On my Modem/Router, i have setup my ISP login details and setup SSID #1 with WPA2-PSK, everything else are default settings.
On my WAP, i configured as per below
- IP address : 192.168.1.3
- Gateway : 192.168.1.1
- Setup SSID# 2 with WPA2-PSK
- Disabled QSS
Now when i try to connect via WIFI to SSID#2, i'm getting internet connection, but when i disconnect from SSID#2 and connect to SSID#1, i get no internet connection. I tried resetting to default on both devices; at times i could get internet connection on SSID#1 but not on SSID#2. So only 1 SSID can get an active connection at a time. I can't figure out what i did wrong as most setting were left as default.
I tried contacting TP Link Support in Indonesia and they tried to remotely configure (via Teamviewer) but they also couldn't figure out what seems to be the problem. They even did a simulation on setting up a TPLink modem/router and TPLink WAP, and they couldn't get both SSIDs to work together.
I actually tried to bring the WAP home (with the current configurations) and plug it to my TPLink wifi router, and both my home SSID#1 & SSID#2 (WAP) works fine. Somehow the WAP won't work with the modem/router at the office.
I hope my office doesn't need to purchase another modem/router to get it working with the WAP.
Any solutions?
Thanks.
Edward
