Model: Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi all,

I noticed there was an update for my old mans router firmware in the tether app this morning, although it wasn't showing as available on the support website.

I have the MR600 meshed with two RE505X extenders.  Before the update everything was working fine with firmware 190412

After updating the firmware to 200511, the extenders would no longer connect to the router on 5GHz and one of the extenders just kept dropping its connection to the router meaning clients were continually changing their connections.  When it did say it had a connection, any conencted devices had no internet.

After messing around with it for ages trying to re-establish the connections, i gave up and downgraded back to the original firmware.  As soon as i did that and everything had settled, the extenders were once again connected as before, all lights lit and no problems.

Anyone else experiencing problems with the new firmware?

@Vaux_2  Try 5ghz only WiFi and fix the channel to channel 36.

I did try setting the extenders to high speed mode so that they meshed to the router over 2.4 but clients connect via 5, but it still gave the same problems. Would turning off the 2.4 give any benefits apart from the downside of reduced bandwidth?

@Vaux_2 Turning off 2.4ghz helps with disconnections a lot . Setting the channel to 36 helps with connecting to repeater . Some channels are not supported by repeaters

@Anvesh I take it the MESH network will still communicate over 2.4, its just 2.4 for client connection i'm turning off?

The repeaters were both set to channel 36 for 5GHz anyway.

I just want to check, when i look at the OneMesh tab in the router, it tells me it has 2 repeaters.  When i look at the OneMesh tab in the repeaters, they tell me the host router doesn't support Mesh...?

Yes disable 2.4ghz for client connections. I am not aware of one mesh repeater showing not supported message . After reading through this whole forum regarding mr600 issues and solutions I found out that only 5ghz Is stable . I have personally verified it to be stable without disconnections only for 3 days. Regarding repeater being set to channel 36 was found out after reading all the reviews in amazon regarding re305 v3 . Only one review mentions about the solution to use lower bands in 5ghz from channel 36 to 40 to avoid disconnections.

I ended up giving up on the onemesh wifi, just could not get a stable network and was getting frequent dropouts.

I now have setup a Mesh network using Deco P9's (as they have the powerline backhaul - great in an old farmhouse with thick walls!) and now have a stable network with great coverage.

I just turned the wifi off on the MR600

Wish i'd done this from the start!
