Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.40

Hi

I had 2 units of deco M4. 1st unit connected to modem installed at 1st floor living room, 2nd unit installed at 2nd floor living. Im running at 300mbps broadband.

When I test speed using laptop from my bedroom at 2nd floor (just 10 meter away from 2nd unit), I get different result connecting to both unit.

Test 1: Connected to unit at 1st floor - about 250mbps, which is great.

Test 2: Connected to unit at 2nd floor - about 160mbps, not good.

Is the speed dropped by half when on 2nd unit is by design? Looks like 2nd unit does help at all. Any idea?

Regards

@ryanlcs how is your second unit connected to the network? If it uses wifi link from the first Deco, then obviously it's on 2.4 GHz and maximum speed on this frequency is about 150 mbps...

@RedRoger 2nd unit is link to the first deco...in such way, it can't be connected to 5GHz? If this is the only way to configure it, then the 2nd unit doesnt serve any purpose at all.

@ryanlcs use eth cable to connect the second Deco to the network. In that case the speed of two Decos will be the same....

@IrvinKlein the purpose of the second unit is that you have a strong wifi signal on the second floor and therefore a good speed on 5GHz. If you use the only one deco on the first floor then on the second one you will not get a strong signal, a good speed and a 5GHz connection ...
