Using powerline to move modem/router
I bought a set of these, hoping i could move either my router, or ideally modem and router from the hallway into nearby home office.
Fibre comes into my house via an ONT , with a lan cable coming from this into my sky modem.
Router connects to modem, and get great speeds when wired up in the hallway.
I tried moving this setup into nearby home office (literally the next room) using the pa8030 to be nice and neat. Lan cable from the ONT going into the adapter, out the other side of the second adapter and into modem.
Internet connection comes up without issue, however it is at a tenth of the speed i was achieving before.
Tried moving modem back, and instead having the modem-router connection going through powerline, same issue.
Tested the powerline on my laptop, shows as a 1gb connection.
Is it just that although it converts the port, it is not suitable for this task?
I have 1gb fibre connection from sky if thats any relevance, using SIRO.
Thanks!
