Model: Archer T2U Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: V1_190422_Win

Hello, I have problem with one of your product, here is my specs as below:

- a D-Link Wireless AC1200 MU‑MIMO Dual‑Band Router - DIR‑842 ( https://eu.dlink.com/ro/ro/products/dir-842-wireless-ac1200-dual-band-gigabit-router?revision=deu_revc1 )

with Hardware is C1 and  latest firmware is 3.13.

- a TP-Link T2U Plus Wifi USB Adapter with latest driver Archer T2U plus(UN)_V1_190422_Win (https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-t2u-plus/)

- Windows 10 Pro 64bit build 2004 fresh installation.

All products above were bought properly from authorized store and all branch new.

The problem is the T2U Plus stop SEEING 5Ghz Wifi channel suddenly, all it can see is 2.4Ghz channel. It's really weird that the device worked well months ago.

I did not make any driver update to both D-Link router and TP-Link Wifi adapter.

Till now, all my phones and laptop can connect to 5Ghz channel normally, I event tried to plug T2U Plus to another pc and boom, it can see 5Ghz channel from D-Link !?

I have restored my previous Windows full backup (created by Acronis True Image 2019), or re-install a fresh Windows version but no luck. It's so annoying!

I brought the T2U Plus Wifi adapter to the local store where I bought it for warranty, but they refused to chance new one because it worked fine there, again!?

Can you help me this?

Hi @Kathy_Z

Thank you for your reply.

In my case T2U Plus could not see 5Ghz wifi channel from my D-link router, other 5Ghz wifi channels around are OK.

I tried to change the wifi channel of D-link as your suggestion from [auto] to [48] and it work! (other params above 48 causes the 5Ghz wifi disappeared or can not be connected)

Finally I can get rid of the headache. Yahooooo!

I hope there will be a stable driver for T2u Plus to resolve this problem automatically.

Heo.

@Heo

Hello, have you already tried with this that I just wrote on the community?

I'm very happy with the tp-link Archer T2U plus adapter, but there's one thing everyone needs to know about it that I did not find anywhere in the instructions. The distance between my computer and the router is about 9 m (30 feet) including two walls in the apartment, and with the wireless mode set to Auto, I get 100% network connection (4 of 4), but it will only be 2.4 GHz. There is no way to get 5 GHz with the wireless mode set to Auto unless they are very close to each other. You need to open the properties of the adapter and change the wireless mode manually if you want 5 GHz. I chose IEEE 802.11ac and the network connection changed to about 75% (3 out of 4), but it works great! I got full speed and can, for example, stream movies without interruption. Of course, the router must also be able to keep up with the latest technology if this shall work.

Best Regards

Nils-Erik Eklöf
