Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.11

I want to upgrade to firmware 20200921 Rel 42500 on my M9 V2.0. The 'Deco M9 Plus Upgrade assistant' asks for TP Link ID & password. What ID & password does it mean? I have an TP Link account for this community and for https://www.tplinkcloud.com/, but these do not work when I try them in the upgrade assistant: "Incorrect TP Link ID or pasword". Also admin/admin does not work.

I managed to get it working! Maybe this helps others:

  • I am on Windows 10 Pro, version 20H2.
  • I ran the Update Assistant tool as 'Administrator' (right mouse click 'Run as administrator') and managed to get to the update.
  • Now my 3 Deco M9's are on 1.4.3 Build 20200921 Rel. 42500.

And: on the safer WPA2-PSK [AES] wifi, great.
