Slow download speed on 2.4GHz on Archer A6
Hello,
I have an Archer A6 router bought around 2 months back. It is connected to an FTTH modem with 100Mbps connection.
When connected to 5GHz wifi, I get connection speeds of 90-95 Mbps. However under the same circumstances (just switching the wifi), when I connect to 2.4GHz, I get a maximum speed of 40-45 Mbps. Upload is 90-95 Mbps in both cases. This behaviour is consistent.
I have a laptop with AC wifi adapter. The associated/lnk speed shows 520 Mbps when connected to 5Ghz and 144.4 Mbps on 2.4GHz.
The testing is done with the laptop a few meters away from the router and with no other device connected.
For 2.4GHz, Wi-fi mode is set to 802.11n only.
Channel and channel width are set to Auto. Tried several options with no difference in behaviour.
Security/encryption is set to WPA2-PSK AES.
Negotiation speed shows 100Mbps full duplex.
WMM and Short GI are enabled.
MU Mimo is disabled.
Tried disabling NAT Boost. No difference.
Shouldn't I be getting simiar speeds on a 100Mbps connection on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless? Or is my understanding/expectation wrong?
I have checked several threads which mention similar issues; however found no working solution except downgrading to firmware version 1.3. Anyone has had the same problem and resolved it ?
