Mesh network? 2 routers+range extender
I have an archer a7 router on my first floor. I purchased a range extender for the second floor. This works great. I guess this is referred to as a mesh network? I like this because phones, tablets, etc connect to whatever one they need to automatically and it appears as just one network when connecting. I have a detached building i am wanting to get internet access in. A wireless range extender is not an option. I ran a cat 6 cable to it this week. I used the chat feature on this website an explained what i wanted to do and expressed that i wanted one network just like it is with my range extender, etc. The person i spoke with encouraged me to get a second router and put it in access point mode. I will admit i am not a networking pro by any means but i still have seperate networks for each router? Did i miss something? Also, it doesn't appear a range extender is an option due to them only connecting wirelessly? Will this setup work or do i need to look at something different? I was reading about ASUS's mesh ofereing and it sounds like that may work in my situation better?
