Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20200402 rel.52000(4555)

Hi

Just purchased the ARcher C6.    Install and set up was straight forward.   It's EU hardware   v2.    I'm using the stock firmware at the moment.

1.3.0 Build 20200402 rel.52000(4555)

I notice that update is available for 1.3.6 Build 20200902 rel.65591

Should I upgrade or not?    Currently everything appears to be working OK (only 1 day in though).    I only really use 2.4 GHZ devices and light internet usage and netflix.

Reading the forums it looks like latest firmware can cause issues with 2.4ghz clients.  and the suggestion is to apply the latest beta firmware.

Should I stay on stock for now and wait for another official firmware?   Or go straight to the beta?

Stock settings currently have QOS turned off and TxBF, MU-MIMO  turned off.

cheers

Pete

If you're happy with the device behavior then stay on the current FW.

The beta version is targeted for customers who have upgraded to the latest (1.3.6) fixing some wireless issues.

According to TP-Link there's a forthcoming version which implements a OneMesh switch and improving the wireless stability.

So if you're satisfied using the device so far, just wait for this official FW to be released.

If for whatever reason you plan to update, the beta firmware 1.3.6 Build 20201208 rel.52296(4555) is your best bet. Basic functionality is OK. I've tested it on a 50 Mbps fibre connection. Wifi channels, DHCP, everything configured manually. I have yet to check QoS, VPN, IPTV VLAN, etc...
