Model: TL-MR6400
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.0.0.9.1 v0001.0 build 210115 rel. 62618n

Hi,

I would like to configure th TL-MR6400 as a wifi range extender or a repeater if you will.

The configuration is:

DSL > Technicolor Modem > Archer C64 wifi router > TL-MR6400 3/4G Wifi Router.

What do I need to update on the Archer C64 and TL-MR6400 in order for this to happen?

I have tried installing DD-WRT onto the MR6400 in the hope that firmware would make the process less daunting, but the files (upgrade or restore) both get rejected from the web interface.

This is the first time I have tried anything like this and I seem to have found that tftp may be the method.

So, can the MR6400 do range extender duty and if so, can it be done with the OEM firmware?

Thank you.

Yes, it's possible to do that with the OEM firmware.

Keep the TL-MR6400 in 3G/4G Router Mode (with SIM card removed).

Use this guide to configure TL-MR6400 in AP mode - Case 2.

Connection between C64 and TL-MR6400 should be LAN => LAN.

Check this post, which confirms that.
