Spanish MOVISTAR SIM not working in the Netherlands
Spanish MOVISTAR SIM not working in the Netherlands
Have a spanish SIM by Movistar.
Was able to us this in a router in spain borrowed from a friend.
Back home in the Netherlands got myself a MR600 and am trying to connect.
Tried all settings given for this Movistar SIM
Can't get it to work.
Firmware keeps indicating no SIM is installed.
Movistar SIM is working in Iphone 4S
I also have a dutch (NL) Lebara sim which is working directly so it is not a flaw of the new MR600
This Lebara sim also works in a Iphone 4S.
Any tips?

Hi, could you please show us the screenshot of Advanced->Status page and Advanced->Network->Internet page on MR600 with Movistar SIM card?
By the way, since it is a spanish SIM card, is it in roaming status now? If so, please enable data roaming on the MR600 as well.

As requested the screenshots
On this last page i have tried about any combinations without success.
The APN information was manually entered. It was not retrieved from the SIM or with a default.
The data for APN was supplied by Movistar support.
SIM has worked while in spain.

Hi, could you please change the Band to Auto for a try? currently, it is set on Band 1 only, in case Movistar has no 4G signal on band 1, it will not work.

Did that. All to auto.
replied to the mail received from this forum already last sunday/monday but now found out it was not received. Sorry.
Took the device/SIM to Poland to see if it would be related to local ISP.
Nothing.
So what can we do?

Hi, I've double checked previous screenshot, the NAT is disabled on Advanced->Network->Internet page, please try to enable it to see if it will resolve the issue.
If not, please insert the Spanish SIM card into your phone again, then check which 4G band the phone is working on.
For android phone, you could install LTE Discovery App or LTE Cell Info: Network Status to check the 4G band of phone.
For iPhone, please type *3001#12345#* into the area you normally use to input a phone number and press call. You will enter Field Test mode, and you should see the Freq Band Indicator or EARFCN or UARFCN number.

Will give this a try this evening.
Note that i only have a Iphone 4s capable of holding the SIM card.
It is not 4G capable, 3G is more or less phased out in the netherlands by most of the ISP.
So it will be 2G at best.
NAT was on by default when initially activating the device for the first time with the SIM inserted.
Did not make any difference then.
Will inform you after my tests.
Back to work....

@Sunshine
The command works but i cannot find the mentioned field names.
Any hint were to look. Think i tried all entries.....
First level:
MM Info
SIM Info
UMTS Cell Environment
GSM Cell Environment
PDP Context Info.
Below some of them another break down....
ARFCN 3 is the only thing that comes closest.

Hi, thank you very much for the reply.
The MR600 doesn't supports 2G, so only 3G and 4G are supported. Since your iPhone 4s is not 4G capable and using 2G with the Movistar SIM in Netherlands, it cannot prove the Movistar SIM could use 4G in Netherlands, do you have any other 4G capable device that could test with the Movistar SIM card in Netherlands?

We are drifting from the topic.
We have a TP-Link MR600 new out of the box that works with a Lebara (NL) SIM perfectly.
It is not working with a Movistar Spanish sim. It does not recognize the SIM card.
Which does work in an Iphone 4s even if the phone might support via ISP 2G or whatever.
Regular 2G/3G/4G ISP positions are probably within a 300-400m range from me. So let's not make that the issue.
SMS message by Movistar (3 last night) come in when inserted in the Iphone 4S. So no technical issue at that level. We can skip the Iphone4S and 2G/3g/4g deviation.
So the issue remains as why the TP-Link MR600 (120+ Euro device) is not seeing the Movistar SIM.

Anything we can still try to do to fix this?
