TP-Link Deco S4 AC1200 questions
Hi there, so I'm looking to purchase the TP-Link Deco in order to setup a mesh network in my house. I have read plenty of reviews/comments but none of them mention anythng regarding connectivity for virgin tx boxes. So I assume you put the Virgin Hub 5 into modem mode as a start and this disables the other Ethernet ports on the hub apart from one which you connect the deco to. We have multiple tv virgin boxes upstairs that are connected with a Coax cable to our hub. Will putting the hub into modem mode effect these connections because of the port thing?

If you only bring TP-Link Deco mesh to improve WiFi at your house, you do not need to put Virgin Hub in modem mode.
Instead, after initial Deco mesh configuration, switch it to Access Point mode: How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

@Alexandre. If I do not want to put it into access mode and want it in the default mode, what are my options regarding the TV coax stuff?

In most cases, running Virgin Hub as a router will work. As long as none of your devices or apps complain about "double NAT" (Google it) running Deco in Router mode connected to Virgin Hub running as a router is fine.
If you have such app or device, you'll find it very quickly.
As for virgin TV boxes with Virgin Hub in modem mode, I think Virgin forum and/or your ISP Tech Support could be a better place to ask that question. Unless, of course, a fellow Virgin Hub user will reply here, and that would not be me as I don't use that hardware at my house.

@Alexandre. Thanks for the responses, just to clarify as I am a bit confused with what you said in comparison to what i have read online. I don't have to set my virgin hub to modem mode in order to run the default mode (Does this mean I can use the other ports on my virgin hub)? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to running the Deco in access point mode in comparison to the default mode?

I have Hitron cable modem/router from my ISP. When I bought Deco mesh, I configured it, turned off Hitron WiFi and switched Deco mesh to Access Point mode. The benefits of Access Point mode as I see them:
I can use all Ethernet ports on ISP router. I do use them for devices such as wired network printer, so it is important to me.
ISP router keeps managing my home network, all of it. For example, if you set static IP addresses for some of your home devices, these settings will still work even if device is connected now through Deco.
In case I don't like Deco mesh and decided to send it back, I don't have to redo my home network. Just power Deco units off, enable WiFi on ISP router and I am back to my original network configuration.
In Access Point mode, all content filtering and bandwidth throttling features in Deco are disabled. Which means: maximum WiFi performance.
I have Satellite Decos I wanted to wire with Ethernet to my home network. Access Point mode offers much more flexibility in that. For example, I have one of my Satellite Deco connected directly to ISP Router. You can't do that in Deco default Router mode, only Main Deco can be wired directly to ISP Router.
-----------
What you are going to lose in Access Point mode is Deco content filtering, bandwidth throttling and antivirus features. The list is here: What’s the difference between Access Point mode and Router mode on the Deco?
