Hi!

I am writing to you with a bit weird case, I need to ping my router from other networks to know whether it is on or off
For this, I`m trying to configure DDNS address with tp-link service provider because I`m using dynamic ip connection type.

While connected to the router wi-fi I can use ping with ddns name, but it doesn't work from other networks (I use 2ip. me/en/services/ip-service/ping-traceroute for test)

Please be aware I`m newbie with routers and network smiley

Thank you, best regards!

Yes, that's a so called CG-NAT (100.84.X.Y). The only option you have is to contact your ISP and ask for an option to have your public IP address (188.163.X.Y) on your AX1800 WAN port.

  @YevheniiKu

1) Make sure that your Internet IP address is public, i.e. not in the ranges:

10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255

172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255

192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255

100.64.0.0 – 100.127.255.255

2) Make sure that you've enabled ping packets through the router's firewall on WAN port:

3) Make sure that the DDNS address you've registered resolves to the Internet IP address from the 1-st step.

If all these conditions are met and you still can't ping your DDNS address then probably the reason is that your ISP restricts echo requests or the website you're trying to ping from has issues.

@terziyski Unfortunately this doesn't help, IP is public and ping is enabled

''While connected to the router wi-fi I can use ping with ddns name, ..." - When you do that, does the replying IP address match the Internet IP address from step 1 and it's not in the ranges I posted ?

If it is in these ranges then your Internet IP address is a private IP address and that's the reason you can't ping it from outside your LAN.

If you give some more details about your network infrastructure, it would be easier to help you:

Which Service Provider are you using for DDNS (like TP-Link, No-IP, DynDNS) ?

Do you have any other device connected before AX1800 (like ISP modem/router) ?

What's your AX1800 Internet IP address first octet (like 192.X.Y.Z) ?

@terziyski No, they are not the same. My internet IP starts with 100.83. and the replying IP address with 188.163.
The service provider is TP-Link. I have no other equipment, at least at my apartment, and have no idea how ISP connected to the building

@terziyski I have just seen your edited range in the first reply if my internet IP starts with 100.84. it is private? And don't match the IP mapped to DDNS
Any suggestions how to fix this
