TL-WA901N(D) how do you achieve 450mbps? I am stuck at 100mbps
I have read several articles on here where people have not been able to achieve more than 100mbps on their 901 devices. I have not read any where the person has then gone on to resolve the issue and achieve 450mbs or anywhere near that. So is it possible to achieve those speeds on this device?
Living in rural France the speed of my internal network was never an issue because the connection from my ISP never exceeded 45mbps, BUT then along came Fibre and I am suddenly aware that my internal network is slow.
My network is an Orange Livebox 5 (Sagemcom Fibre Router) with 5 x TP-WA901N and ND's and 1 x Outdoor Wifi Extender (outdoorrouter.com). The 901's are all configured as WAP's and hardwired back to the Router.
I have performed several tests but in the end stripped back the network as and the results are:
- TP-WA901N V6 Factory Reset and latest firmware installed and configure as a WAP and then connected to a LAN port on the router with 2 meter long CAT5 fly lead gave a reading of 93.55Mbps (download) using Ookla speedtest.
- Same Laptop connected to the same router port using the same cat 5 fly lead delivered a speed reading of 412.29 Mbps
- Same Laptop connected to the Orange Liveboxs Wifi (5 GHz is enabled) provided a speed reading of 360.51 Mbps
I have looked through all the settings on the 901 and tried changing the Channel Width from 20 to 40MHz which made no difference. The Wireless settings state that the Max Tx Rate is 450Mbps but none of my 901's will exceed 100Mbps.
Not that the network is slow for my use but I don't want the AP's to now limit my network now I have fibre.........is there a setting, or some small print about actual speeds that I am missing.
Hope someone out here can help speed up my internal network.
