Model: Deco M4   Deco X60
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.6 Build 20221229 Rel. 72252

Hello,

I have a 3-pack x60 system which works fine. I have been struggling to add another M4R to extend the coverage. It disconnects daily and can only re-connect after a power cycle.

The firmware of all decos are updated:

- All X60 devices are running 1.5.0 Build 20210121 Rel. 54042

- M4 uses 1.5.6 Build 20221229 Rel. 72252

If it helps, network topography between M4 and the main X60 is like this. Equal signs represent cables.

   Internet modem === X60(main) === Switch(#1) ====== Switch(#2) === M4

   One other X60 is wired similarly: X60(main) === Switch(#1) ======= Switch(#3) === X60(#2)

   The third X60 is connected wireless.

Wireless X60 is on the second floor, Main deco and wired X60(#2) is on the first floor, M4 is in the basement.

There are other devices connected to Switch(#2) and they have no issues.

Any help deeply appreciated.

  @Tarkani

It is possible your M4R has hardware issues. You can do decisive test, without impacting rest of your home network, by connecting M4R with short good quality Ethernet cable to Satellite Deco X60(#2):

 X60(main) === Switch(#1) ======= Switch(#3) === X60(#2) === M4

If in that setup M4R keeps disconnecting, it must be hardware.

On a side note, M4R is not the best Deco model to add to Deco mesh consisting of X60s. It'll work, assuming no hardware issues, but if you want budget friendly addition to your Deco mesh that is consistent with what you already have, you should go with Deco X20.

  @Alexandre.

It took me a while to do comprehensive tests. I am now absolutely sure that the issue is software based.

I replaced the M4 unit with another one and I have the same problem; M4 disconnects in a few days if it is connected with an ethernet cable.

When M4 is connected wireless, it doesn't disconnect and works fine.

By the way; I use M4 with x60 devices because I already have M4 at hand. I am utilizing existing device.
