Hello.

I am using a TP Link TL-WA901N router as an AP, powered up using PoE. A few weeks ago I noted the lights on top of the router (power, ethernet and Wi-Fi) not lightning up in the usual manner, and I then realized I was getting an error when trying to connect to the network (My network architecture is not perfect as there is no seamless handover, however the area covered by the router in question has no other wifi access. When I try to connect, it sometimes shows the network SSID as being "open" and not secured, and other times requires a password. I disconnected the router from power and restarted it and it did the same. I "forgot"/removed the network SSID and password form my phone and laptops list of known connections, tried to reconnect and could not.  I reset the router, tried to connect and couldn't. I am able to access the internet using the same ethernet cable hardwired to a laptop, at a speed of very close to the line speed of ~ 100/100 MBPS. I have tried to connect to the default SSID of the router via the QR code and it returns the same error of "Unable to join network". This occurs across all devices. I am unable to log into the router landing page as I cannot connect to the SSID. It appears the router keeps resetting itself every 60-605s. I have taken a video to confirm this.

Reset your WA901N to its factory default settings using the reset button (press and hold reset button until all the LEDs turn on momentarily) then use this video for setting up from scratch. Your power supply may turns out to be the problem - if that's the case you could power up the AP with its included external power supply.

  @terziyski

Thanlk you for the reply. I had done that on several occassions.

I think I may have traced it back to the PoE injector which I received with the TP link router when I purchased it.

I have a separate PoE splitter which I used to spilt the Ethernet and power for the router (ie testing if it maybe be the router’s internal splitter) but it is giving the same fault. If I power it using the 9V adapter it works perfectly.

I'm powering it via a DC-ups which has a 9V selector. If I power the router directly from the UPS it works perfectly. I did that last night when I could connect to the router via cable to do a Quick Setup as AP. If I use the 9V power supply it works perfectly as well. I prefer to use PoE as I am powering another router as well, and have the cables pre-installed in my house. My country also has severe power system issues so want equipment running consistently and not having power spikes. I plugged the routers AC/DC 9V supply into the router and it works perfectly and I have also used the AC/DC 9V supply as the power source for the PoE (i.e. checking if the DC ups is faulty) and it worked and I was able to connect to the SSID, BUT, as soon as I went back to see if I could get the DC ups to work, it did not, and now neither does the AC/DC 9V supply via PoE. I am currently using the AC/DC 9V supply directly to the router and it works. This is not the preferred power setup for reasons described above.

I'll test a new PoE injector.
