Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.13.2 Build 230824 Rel.75032n(5553)

Want to Setup same user name n password on the access point as on router, TP-Link Archer AC1200 Archer C6. These should get switched automatically. I am using airtel fiber internet router which doesn't support mesh.

While setup it asked me the username n password, shouldnot it pick automatically from the main router and work as an extender

It would've picked up the username/password if they were in configured in mesh network.

Since you're using the C6 in AP mode, these are not propagated automatically - you could configure username/password either the same or different.

In both cases your devices will switch automatically between them but the smoothness of switching depends only on your client devices.

I personally prefer username/password to be different - thus I know at any moment to which wireless AP the client device is connected.

From what I gather you've bought a archer c6 amd your going to set it up in AP mode to be used as a extender.

From what I believe you will have to set the router up as a new router through the set up process.

When you get to the part of setting a ssid and password I would use the same password and ssid as your main router then finish off the set up.

Then on the menu button on the left of the tether app you'll see down the bottom operation mode Select that then you should be able to select AP mode then it'll reboot into AP mode.

(I have done this in my property with my current  network 3x ax72 ( 1xmain 2x satellite iin AP mode) and my previous 2 archer c6 routers that I used as AP satellites.

Your wifi signal will be boosted but bare in mind that not all devices will switch seamlessly from your main unit to the AP so you may still have to turn wifi off and on again 👍🏻
