Model: Deco X68
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knew which devices I could use to expand the X68 mesh.  I've got two base stations currenlty and would like to add a third.  AX3600 showing as 'near end of life' on the Tapo website and not sure if I need to track down a second hand one on eBay or if another Deco device will work with the other X68 ones.  Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I should have asked if you plan to hardwire new Satellite Deco, so that it will be using Ethernet backhaul. If you do, I recommend Deco X50 or X55.

In case Satellites will be wirelessly connected, using WiFi backhaul, I have two options for you to choose from:

1. Get Deco X90 or X95 and make it Main Deco. It is superior device to X68 and fits well into X68 Deco mesh. Use both X68 as Satellite Deco. How to Set up the Satellite Deco or a new Deco to be the Main Deco

2. X90/X95 is on a pricey side, so if budget is tight get Deco X50 or X55 as additional Satellite. X50/X55 is a good fit for X68 mesh, but devices connected to Satellite X50/X55 will get a bit slower WiFi speeds than those connected to Satellite X68.

In theory, all Deco models can work with each other, but in reality it is better to add similar Deco to existent mesh. Anything from X-series can do, but another challenge with Deco is not every Deco model supports all features. If you add Deco that does not support specific features to existent Deco mesh, these features will dissapear from Deco app.

Tell me what firmware version your X68s have and I'll help you to narrow list of models that won't impact Deco mesh features you have. You can find X68 firmware version under Update Deco page in Deco app.
