Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.12 Build 20231023 rel.42641(5553)

Hi Community,

I have a TP-Link Archer AX73(US) Ver 2.20 which I updated to the latest FW Version 1.0.12 Build 20231023 rel.42641(5553). Ever since the update, a month ago, all my non-Apple devices are unable to connect to the Wifi device. For some reason, only Apple devices are able to connect to the Wifi device, and ofcourse internet is working fine on devices which are indeed able to connect to the Wifi device. So, this is not an internet issue, this is an issue with connectivity to the WiFi device.

I tested various security options and in one of the scenarios I disabled security on the WiFi device after which my non-Apple devices were able to connect; which is a problem ofcourse.

Moreover, as a temporary option, I enabled Guest Wifi Network and disabled security on the Guest Wifi but quite strangely the devices were not able to connect even to the security disabled Guest Wifi. This is just mind baffling as the devices connect to regular WiFi with security disabled but not with Guest Wifi with security disabled.

There is something seriously wrong with the new FW; I seriously doubt it even quality tested before release. Although that my device is under warranty, Support has been quite useless.....they sent a couple of useless emails with questions which I had already answered in the initial support ticket which I promptly answered, after which there has been no response for the past 3 weeks almost. I had even requested them to share the previous FW version with steps to downgeade the Router but they have not bothered to reply. Have sent them a few emails as reminders but to no avail.

Now I am stuck with a Router which serves internet to only half my devices (Apple only, iPhones, iPad) but none of the other devices (Laptops from Dell, HP or Lenovo; Mobiles from Samsung, Xiaomi etc.). Anyone has a solution?

Hi, thanks for the link. I was able to downgrade to the previous version and everything works fine now.

I wonder why support did not bother to provide the information despite multiple requests. Anyway, as long as the issue is resolved, hopefully the next FW version would be better.

Regards,

A.

Hi, what is the error message when you connect non-apple devices to the AX73 WiFi network?

For older firmware Archer AX73(US)_V2_1.0.11 Build 20230829, you could download from US site since your device is US version: Firmware Download for Archer AX73(US)_V2

The steps to downgrade the firmware is the same as local firmware update.

Thank you very much for the update, our official firmware is always released after complete tests, so not sure what the issue is now, and I have reported it to our senior engineer for testing again to see if the issue can be reproduced on our end.

Hi, we've run the same tests but cannot reproduce the issue, could you please save a backup configuration file on your router and let us know the login password via private message?

After that, we will use the same configuration to test it again.

In addition, except for the AX73, is there any other access points or extenders in your network? If so, please let us know the network topology as well.

  @Sunshine

Hi, Whenever I attempted to connect, I would get password prompts again and again. I thought that it was all non-Apple devices but it was only because all my Apple devices were connecting to the 5.0Ghz network; a Lenovo Laptop was able to connect to the WiFi device using the 5.0Ghz network but the same Laptop could not connect to the 2.4Ghz network despite password of both networks being same.

Basically, all devices which attepted to connect to the 2.4Ghz network would be denied connection with incorrect password error.

Hi, Sorry, I have already downgraded to the earlier version of the FW and now the device works flawlessly. Moreover, as I posted above, the problem is more so with the 2.4Ghz of the device than non-Apple devices. I was able to connect to the 5.0Ghz of the device using a Lenovo laptop but the same laptop would not connect to the 2.4Ghz network; would repeatedly ask for the password (like all the other devices which attempted to connect to the 2.4Ghz but failed).

We just tested the 2.4G WiFi again with the latest 1.0.12 firmware and it still works fine, so the issue still cannot be reproduced on our end.

If you encounter any problem again, please let us know and share with us your configuration file along with the login password via private message.
