Is this wifi router locked?
This is a Archer VR1600v. I do not know what I have missed. I cannot select the same from the drop-down menu.
Firmware Version: 0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 200810 Rel.53181n
Hardware Version: Archer VR1600v v2 00000000
I acquired this router from a friend who WAS a TPG customer in Sydney. Connection type of TPG is PPPoE.
I found no way to make the router to work with another ISP that has connection type iPoE. I have tried to factory reset etc. I wonder:
- if there is a way to tell if the router is locked
- if there is a way to update the firmware that may help to reset the modem/router.

This modem router FW has been customized for the ISPs like TPG.
According to its specifications its should support MER\IPoE (RFC 1483 Routed) ,but you probably won't find a FW to download because only the ISP can provide it.

@terziyski
Sorry I am not that technical.
Does it mean the wifi router is only useful for returning customers of TPG? There is no simple ways to unlock it, right?
I also find these firmware version reported under the router home page (after typing 192.168.1.1).
Another friend of mine has an unlocked router showing:
Firmware Version:0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 220518 Rel.32480n
This router (apparently-locked) shows:
Firmware Version: 0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 200810 Rel.53181n

1. FW means firmware of the router - its operating system.
2. More or less yes.
The get this FW version: Firmware Version:0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 220518 Rel.32480n
you should probably ask your friend to get it from TPG and then you can upgrade it manually.

Assume I buy an unlocked router now, and using it together with some ISP xyz (their connecting type is iPoE). After some months I go back to have TPG service. Will the unlocked router usually work with their system without change?

Well, since I don't know the TPG modem routers requirements, I believe you'll get the best answer to this question from TPG community or TPG tech support.

Hi, to use with other ISP, you could try to hard reset the device first, then delete all default TPG profiles under DSL and EWAN sections (Advanced>>>Network>>>DSL/EWAN/ETH), then check if you will be able to add new profile for your ISP manually.
