I have just got new broadband where its now running at 500 mbps however the deco m4 is only pushing it at 90.

 

so I have it setup where the router has a ethernet cable to the main deco then it wirelessly to the other four decos.

 

I have read that looking at the dos is worth checking but I have no idea on the app on how to do this! any other suggestions or screenshot on where it is to look at??

It is called QoS. You should set this parameter values to 600 for download and for upload. See this: How to set up QoS on the Deco

 

If that does not help and speed is 90, replace Ethernet cable you are using between Main Deco and router, it could be that 100Mbps speed is negotiated over it instead of gigabit.

thank you but I can't find how to change it on the settings that link is completely different to the app on my phone. do I need to log in from a laptop?

It should be in the app on the phone.

 

Open Deco app, Select More from the bottom right, new Deco app page will open, make its screenshot and post here.

 

Also, while in More, open Advanced, make that page screenshot and also post it here.

You run Deco mesh in Access Point mode. In that mode QoS parameter is disabled and does not have impact on broadband speed.

 

You need to replace Ethernet cable that connects Main Deco to ISP router, it appears they can't negotiate gigabit speed over it and drop to 100Mbps.

 

Also, to cover all possibilities: are you sure your Main Deco is M4 and not similarly looking E4? Deco M4 has gigabit Ethernet ports, but E4 has 100Mbps Ethernet ports. You can verify Main Deco model name using Update Deco page from Deco app.

so I changed the cable and its upto about 200 now. I did change the m4 for another m4 and I'm not sure if that has made any difference. its much better but not sure if I can get it any higher?

You should be getting up to 500Mbps from Main Deco, and about half of that or a bit less from Satellite Deco. Your speed tests with 200Mbps results, were they from device connected to Satellite Deco by any chance?

I'm not sure what you mean as I'm having a moment. the router has a ethernet cable to the deco then tirelessly to the others. I tested it on a app on the deco WiFi that's when it was 200

@Benwood118 He meant when you got speed of 200 Mbps, was your phone connected to the main Deco or one of the satellite Decos?
