Folks, had this device a few years and am very happy with it.  I have not enabled firewall merely depending on its router functions of only allowing IN traffic related to an outgoing connection.

As my internet is now behind CGNAT my port redirection is non functional so I have enabled IPv6 - currently no IPv6 firewall enabled.  In this state I assume nothing is exposed to the internet.

If I enable IPv6 firewall and Allow the packets not specified by any filtering rules to passthrough this device does that mean any servers are open to the internet?

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Just as the words you mentioned, "the packets not specified by any filtering rules is to passthrough this device."

Note: The device will match the incoming packet with the enabled filtering rules one by one down the list and apply to the first matching rule. If the packet is not specified by any filtering rules within the list, then the Default Filtering Rule will take effect.

What is it actually doing then if firewall not enabled?  Reason I ask is that if I enable to IPv6 firewall and have set DENY unless rule allows my laptop still is able to access any web pages I try and I make sure they are pages not accessed recently so would not be in a cache.  There is no rule allowing my laptop.

IPv6 Firewall protects your IPv6 network by preventing access from the internet. However, when you are hosting a service, such as a file sharing server in your local network, you can choose to allow access to the server from the internet by adding entries on this page. This feature is available only when you’ve set up an IPv6 connection.

Did you set up the information from the screenshots below? Did you set up any detailed rules?

It is suggested to read P84-P88 in the User Guide to know more.
