Deco M5 mesh much slower than new router
Hi everyone
Please forgive the non-technical language and possibly stupid question(s) as I am a novice when it comes to mesh systems etc.
I have 3 Deco M5s which are my wifi mesh around the house. Have had them a couple of years and they work well, so I'm a happy customer. However, my internet provider PlusNet has recently upgraded by connection from an old copper-wired one (which used to max out at about 40 mbps) to a new full fibre one (they also gave me a new router to use with this).
If I connect my iphone/iPad/Mac to the wifi on the new router directly and run a speed test, I get about 150 Mbps which is great (and noticeably faster than my old connection). My home mesh network (with the 'main' M5 plugged into the new Plusnet router downstairs) works fine, as it always has, but is only giving me device speeds of 60 mbps. In the past, it used to produce speed test results of around 40 Mbps, i.e. around the same as the old copper wire connection. I am confused as to why my mesh network is getting some benefit from the new full fibre connection (increased from 40 to 60 Mbps) but is seemingly missing out on most of it. More confusingly still (in my non-technical mind at least!), when I run a speed test within the Deco app it produces a result of 150 Mbps... so I don't understand why it is seemingly not utilising this fully...
Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
