How do i know if the modem/router has a Symmetric NAT?
How do i know if the modem/router has a Symmetric NAT? This information is really important regarding VoIP, yet I can't find it anywhere, nor do I know how to get it. Can someone help me?
I have a modem/router VX230v.
Thanks.

I ask you how can I get this information and how to understand if the router has a symmetric nat or not. Thanks.

Hi, I am afraid that we can not get this information from the router directly. Sorry that it is out of my knowledge to tell how to understand whether the router has a symmetric nat or not. As I know, for TP-Link common DSL modem routers with VoIP functions, they do not support a Symmetric Nat.

Thanks, i have another question i can't find anywhere. How long is the NAT refresh time? How many seconds?
For how long a router keeps records in the NAT?
I found this on internet:
According to Section 4.3 of RFC 4787, the UDP timeout of a NAT should not be smaller than 2 minutes (120 seconds), except for selected, well-known ports
What is the time for the tp-link router or my particular tp-link router?

Sorry, VX230v is a customized model for some ISPs only, it is a pity that we can know much less than common DSL modem routers.
For your question, it is suggested to contact your ISP or local support for confirmation.

To check if your VX230v modem/router has Symmetric NAT, you can look into the router's settings through its web interface. Typically, you'll find NAT settings under the "Firewall" or "Advanced" section. If you can't find any specific info there, you might want to check your router’s manual or contact your ISP, as they can often provide the exact details My NSFAS Login. Symmetric NAT usually means the router assigns a unique public IP for each connection, which can affect VoIP performance.
