I've been having this problem with my Decos where when a new device joins, I get 4 different notifications for that device joining. It's like something is duplicating, and it began happening when I switched the main Deco to a different Deco. 

 

As such it feels like something is wrong and needs fixing. How would I go about resetting the network to fix this, but without losing my previous Homecare/Homeshield data and without having to mess around with my router again in hub or modem mode please? Also are there any disadvantages in starting the network from scratch again? Thanks

  @Marvin_S Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that doesn't help. The trouble is when a device joins the network, I get 4 notifications for the same device joining the network. Something is definitely wrong. 

 

That's why I want to reset the network, but I'm not sure how to and what I may lose by doing so. I would appreciate any help.

May I confirm the model of your Decos?

Here are some suggestions for your reference:

1. Please reboot the Deco system for try.

2. Please update Deco app to the latest from Google Play or Apple Store. 

3. Please update firmware to the latest on Deco app.

4. What is content of the four different notifications? Could you please share the screenshots for an intuitive explanation?

I've done all those. It's different Decos rather than just 1 model. As for the notification, it's simple. You know the push notification you can enable for whenever a new device joins the network? It's that notification, but instead of just showing once, it repeats 4 times. It happens across different phones so it's not my phone playing up. 

 

I just want to know how to reset the network? Would I have to delete the network and then create a new one again?  Can't I do it another way as I'll lose all the history that way?

  @Marvin_S Thank you, however, can I ask what the differences would be if I manually removed every Deco on the network and set them up again, versus if I deleted the network and made a new one? 

 

Could there be any lingering issues from a long standing network that has had frequent new connections joined to it and then removed that could be causing performance problems by any chance? Might I see performance gains if I were to remove the network and make a new one please?

 

If I made a new network, while my router is in modem mode, would it be straight forward to connect the Decos back? I'm unsure what the steps would be as I would have no internet upon deleting the network, given my router would be in modem mode and the Decos would need to be reconnected

Hi, yes, if you reset Deco network or main Deco, you will lose internet from Deco network and that is normal.

If you want to reset the network, my usual method to press reset button directly. But you need to reconfigure all Decos and connect all your client devices to Deco network. That is the reason why I tried to provided some suggestions instead of telling resetting method directly.

Deco only supports wireless router mode and access point mode. If your modem has no router function, you have to use wireless router mode for Deco network.

Reconfiguring the Decos does not seem like a huge problem, I would only have 3 in the new setup. But would it cause any issues with my devices or otherwise if I deleted all the Decos manually from my network and then added them again? I feel like maybe I've added too many devices, even though they're offline and it is causing some problems within the Deco system, as things aren't working as strongly as they should be. Sometimes I also notice random slowdowns. 

 

That's why I want to reset it and start afresh. But I'm unsure on the process and what I might lose by doing this? 

Would it be better to select each Deco in the network manually and remove it, or to just remove the entire network and start again? After removing the entire network, my router will be in router mode, how would I connect the Decos back? Create a new network and then what?

Hi, yes, too many clients may make the network overload and cause some decrease or network performance.

  @Marvin_S Thanks. It doesn't seem to be clear on how to reset the system, and if, by doing so, I could gain any benefits or lose any features for example. 

 

I also wanted to clarify, it's not too many clients I have on the network, it's various different Decos. I have many different ones on the network, though only 3 are turned on while the rest are off. I wonder, if this could be causing a problem and the others should be removed? Further, I've also replaced the main Deco multiple times to test what would provide the strongest performance, and again I wonder if this could cause issues in the network leading to slowdown, even though the process was done through the app as advised.
