Hello

today i had a new FTTP installed, it should be 960/960Mbps but currently seem to be capped on Wifi 5Ghz at around 550Mbps
I have a cabled connection that i run on a cron to speedtest and this hits a much more respectable amout, my Macbook is connected at 1200Mbps (ax) as all the screenshots show etc, tried enable / disable QOS but didnt make any difference, always capped at around 500 / 550
any ideas ?

speedtest via wifi

speed via cable (via grafana with prometheus exporter)

channels set to 160 Mhz

i also have a thinkbroadband monitor running for ping latency / packet loss, since swapping to the new connection the Tplink DNS is not working

i createrd a new one using opendns endpoint that works OK (although its so new its hard to see but its in the bottom right corner)

Hi, thanks for your update.

As per the specifications of Deco X60, 4804 Mbps (802.11ax) on 5GHz refer to the maximum link speed, not actual internet speed.

The fact is the actual wireless link speed on your Macbook is 1200 Mbps. And when devices connect the wireless network, they follow half-duplex negotiation principle(which is suitable for all wireless devices.), so the internet speed on your Macbook is about 40%-50% of the link speed.

If you have phones or other wirless devices, you may test and verify referring to this guide.

i also tested this locally running Iperf on a Cable connected device and i see similar speeds on Wifi

Hi, thanks for posting question.

According to your sharing, the wireless internet speed on your Macbook on 5GHz band is normal.

You may refer to the articles below to know more:

  @Marvin_S

hello thanks for the reply, I'm not sure I understand the 1st link, but I checked my deco system and none of the items mentioned in the 2nd link are active

I ran iperf locally and the speeds are the same, so is tcp brr somehow active on the deco units ? It says deco x60 is capable of up to 4000+ mbps in the adverts

i think i found some issues, my new ISP seems to do CGNAT on IPV4, but it does native IPV6, i have set my Deco to have an IPV6 and that seems to work fine, the speeds are still the sort of the same though

and here is my wired testing shown in grafana

@Marvin_S  here are 2 speedtests, i feel this concludes that the WIFI is the issue here, not my Laptop

first one my Macbook connected directly to the ONT via Ethernet

and 2nd, to a gigabit switch connected to the LAN port on the Main Deco (Wifi is connected tothe Main Deco)
