This one has me stumped! After two years of excellent service, the router has developed an odd fault. When my wife switches her PC on, which is connected by cable to the router, the rest of us, connected wirelessly, lose connection. It is a pain for me as I am usually working, but our sons lose whatever game it is they are playing on the Playstaion etc. Creates an bit of family tension....any thoughts anyone.

I cannot see what have you done, do you mean setting static IP for all machines has fixed the problem?
But if the problem happens again, I think you should check your wife's computer for ARP virus.
When your wife's PC is off, and the rest of you are accessing internet (working or gaming or sth..), go to the Webpage of TL-WR1043ND -> IP & MAC Binding -> ARP List, click "load ALL";
Then go back to IP & MAC Binding -> Binding Settings, enable ARP Binding and click "save". Then click "Enable ALL" at the bottom.
